Can I host Virtual Machines on my Server?

You can absolutely host Virtual Machines on servers with us! Hosting Virtual Servers allows you to consolidate servers, save time and money during development, or run different operating systems all from one physical server hardware.

To host Virtual Machines, simply select the Operating System "Windows Server 2008 R2 Datacenter Edition w/ Hyper-V (64-bit)" when purchasing any Dedicated Server. Selecting this operating system allows for hosting unlimited Virtual Machines on it, and comes pre-loaded with Microsoft's Hyper-V - a very powerful virtualization software which is fully supported by our Technical Support team.

Our Technical Support team will even provide you with default Windows installation .ISO files so that you can provision any number of Virtual Machines!

Looking for Linux hosting?
Many of our customers looking for Linux hosting opt to Windows Server with Hyper-V to actually host Linux Virtual Machines, so you get the best of both worlds!

What are the requirements for hosting Virtual Machines?
You cannot host Virtual Machines within Virtual Machines.
You must use a Dedicated Server for the Hyper-V host machine.
"Portable IPs" are required for the Virtual Machines to have Networking connectivity.
You must have a VM compatible edition of the OS.

What Dedicated Servers are capable of hosting Virtual Machines?
All of our Dedicated Servers come fully capable of hosting Virtual Machines! We recommend a strong Single processor with Hyper-Threading such as the Xeon 1270, or for more demanding guest machines we would recommend a Dual or Quad processor. Not sure what you need? Will the Technical Support team help?
Our Technical Support team is fully qualified in installing, configuring, and troubleshooting Microsoft Hyper-V and can assist you with any issues you may encounter. While we cannot provide support for inside the actual Virtual Machines Operating Systems that you provision, we will support the host server and any configuration or networking issues you may encounter.
